The Highway Agency A120 Proposed Southern Route has been in the forefront of many peoples minds for a number of years now.  It has caused communities to split and become distrustful of each others motives, it has also brought communities together to protect what they feel is important.

As there is still so much to do on the site we will be building up sections gradually, but will be uploading news when it comes in.  If anyone wishes to contribute their latest news on the A120 PSR please email us, or watch this spot for any current news that becomes available to us.

A120 Proposed Southern Route Opposition groups Print E-mail

The opposition to the Proposed A120 Southern Route has three main objection groups.

The aims of the A120forum is to oppose the Highway Agency's Proposed Southern route.  They support the use of the existing A120 corridor and stongly reject the construction of a new motorway cutting through areas of beauty, creating a scar running through the centre of the ancient communities which have settled here for centuries and now await a decision from Whitehall to see whether their communities will be split and land potentially opened up for develiopment ruining yet more of the English countryside and its communities.

The Blackwater Action Groups works towards preserving the beauty and wildlife of the River Blackwater and its surrounding area.  It has worked tirelessly for the protection of this area and continues to lobby against the A120 expansion going through the valley between Kelvedon/Feering and Coggeshall.

The Cressing Action Group has made a firm stand against the proposed southern route working towards protecting their community.  Their aims are clearly listed on their site, and they have held the Highway Agency to account on numerous occasions, with solid arguments and well placed facts.

The Regional Transport Forum and the Regional Planning Panel are both meeting on the 16th and are both discussing the report.

REGIONAL TRANSPORT FORUM – 16 January 2009

REGIONAL FUNDING ALLOCATION 2: TRANSPORT

Report by: East of England Regional Assembly

6.11 The consultant’s assessment of schemes against the Primary Framework and scheme deliverability, along with the funding constraints, has meant that some of the schemes identified in RFA1 as indicative priorities for the post 2011/12 period are not being recommended as part of the firm 2011/12 to 2013/14 allocation, and will need to be reappraised as part of DaSTS/RFA3. These are the A47 Blofield to North Burlingham Dualling, A120 Braintree to A12, and the A421 M1(J13) to Milton Keynes. For the A47 and A120 it is proposed that the Highways Agency be asked to reconsider the issues with a view to determining appropriate solutions. The A421 is covered below.
